NJ Inmate Murdered Fellow Prisoner: Prosecutor
A 23-year-old East Orange man was charged with murdering an inmate at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Chesterfield, authorities said Friday, July 31. On Friday, July 17, correctional officers found Yasin Sellers slumped on the floor and unresponsive in a prison gymnasium following a religious service, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw said. Sellers was pronounced dead at the scene, Bradshaw said. An investigation determined Sellers collapsed after being assaulted by Banton, Bradshaw said.

Services have been set for Michael Bereheiko, the 26-year-old boat passenger killed when the vessel struck a channel marker in Barnegat Bay last weekend. Bereheiko grew up in North Plainfield and later moved to Green Brook, according to his obituary on the Higgins Home for Funerals. A pedestrian was injured after he was struck by vehicle while fleeing Immigration and Customs Enforcement Friday morning, July 31, authorities said. At 9:05 a.m., officers responded to Route 35 north near the train station after the man fled from ICE agents who were attempting to apprehend him, Point Pleasant Beach police said. More than 1 million rechargeable hand warmers are being recalled after hundreds of people suffered burns and one person died.
