A Closter woman and a Hackensack man are accused of assaulting a Dollar Tree manager while stealing about $60 worth of merchandise from a Paramus store, police said.
Officers responded to the Dollar Tree at the Mall at IV, 275 Route 4 West, at approximately 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, on a report of a robbery in progress, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

A complaint about a vehicle with a loud exhaust led to a DWI arrest and the seizure of a loaded homemade handgun allegedly modified into an automatic weapon in Bergen County early Friday, July 17, police said.

Dateline NBC will be airing a one-hour episode titled "Slow Burn" about the 2018 murder of the Caneiro family in Colts Neck on Friday, July 17 at 10 p.m.
Paul Caneiro, an Ocean Township resident, was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences after being convicted of murdering his brother, his sister-in-law and their two children in their Colts Neck home.
In levying the sentence, Judge Marc Lemieux called Caneiro, a "callous, heartless, brutal killer."
